Tomato Basil Wraps – What do you do with yours?

Have you had the chance to get the wrap packs that have been offered as an add-on? I bought a pack a few weeks ago not really knowing what I would do with them. Now that I am doing this weight loss challenge I needed to find something easy for me to make for my lunch that is filling. I love salads but, you can only eat so many salads in a week before you just want to sink your teeth into something else!

I have never been a big lunchmeat sandwich eater.  I would rather have a big hamburger, French fries and a diet soda all large size! On my  quest to lose weight I decided that hamburgers, French fries and diet soda no longer belonged in my world! I pulled out from my freezer (and these wraps freeze AMAZING!) the tomato basil wraps. I went to my local deli and got some thinly sliced turkey meat, some sprouts and a red onion. (I had already eaten the beautiful head of romaine lettuce from this weeks contributions.)I almost grabbed an avocado but remember I had just gotten a couple in my basket.  I came home and began building my lunch wrap.  My wraps were already thawed and I don’t mind them being cold since this wrap is a cold cut style wrap. You can warm your wrap up in the microwave for 10-20 seconds if you want. I do that when I am using warm grilled chicken breast strips.

Here is what it looked like as I was building mine:

 Now the finished product

Instead of chips, I had some baby carrots and grape tomatoes. Yum!

I don’t have a recipe per say to share because you can make this however you want according to your taste and it will turn out perfect!

For those starting to follow my weight loss journey, today was day 8. I weighed myself this morning and I am down 6 1/2 pounds. I joined my local YMCA yesterday and started working out with my friend Melissa who has decided to become my personal trainer. I seriously feel like I need someone following us around the gym with a camera as Melissa and I exercise. With being the big girl I am, I am huffing, puffing and the sweat is just rolling off me and Melissa is right there cheering me on as she too workouts but without all the huffing, puffing and barely breaking a sweat. We were talking about my diet last night and even she told me that I needed to get off the soda pop. This morning I did it….I gave up my diet soda! (My poor family) I have been drinking water today and I think I have taken in 3 liters of water. I have had a headache but I know if I can get the next couple days over without having a soda, I can kick the habit.

This first week of my challenge/journey has been a pretty good one. Because I have a lot of weight to lose, in the overall picture with the group, I  lost just over 1% of my weight and came in 20 out of 34. (Good thing I cant get booted off the show or voted off the island LOL!)  I was a bit discouraged by that I wont lie but, I am not going to let it get me down! If you are on the same kind of journey that I am with your weight, just hang in there! If I can do it, YOU CAN DO IT! I know that through my participating with Bountiful Baskets, I can get the good quality produce I need and my family needs to be eating.

  1. I know that somewhere I saw the directions for freezing the wraps but now that I bought some in my basket today I can’t find them anywhere! Can you email them to me or post them here? Thanks!
